Mexican Bicentennial

Tomorrow and Thursday, September 15 and 16, will be the 200th anniversary of Mexican independence. It was 200 years ago that the Grito de Dolores was issued by a Catholic Priest named Miguel Hidalgo:

"Long live religion!, Long live Our Lady of Guadalupe! Long live the Americas and death to the corrupt government!"

This set began the struggle for independence from colonial Spain.
