I've picked up A guitar recently (again). It's not mine though, because mine broke recently. To be exact, the bridge on it lifted up, so every time I tighten the strings, the bridge goes up more. I've been using my sister's though, and it's a lot better than my old piece of junk. I've gotten pretty good at scales. That's pretty much all i've done so far. I'm looking for some songs I can do. I've played parts of Holy Diver, Black Sabbath, Satin Doll also. That gives me something to do in the time I'm not working.
I've also watched a couple of good movies recently, Doubt and Gran Torino, they were both excellent. The ending of Doubt was puzzling at first, but after I thought about it, I saw the film in a another light (I won't say anything so I won't ruin it for those who haven't seen it). I loved Gran Torino. Clint Eastwood's performance was pretty... badass. Yes, badass. He played a rough war veteran, who at first was racist towards his neighbors but soon warmed up to them. The characters were well written, the acting was great, and so was the story. I also watched Friday the 13th on Friday the 13th. It was entertaining, probably all I can say about it. For those who are not fans of horror movies, in particular, slasher films, I wouldn't recommend it. But if you get your rocks off watching limbs get hacked off, then you might like it. In short, I've seen better slasher films than this one, but it's worth renting. I liked Marcus Nispel's (the director of Fri. the 13th) other remake, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre better. I wonder why critics even bother watching these movies. I've seen read one review in particular that singled out fans of these types of movies as dummies or something. Well I'm a fan of slasher films and I'm no dummy. They're looking for seriousness or some sort of transcendent meaning in Friday the 13th? You're looking in the wrong place.
And lastly, here's what's on my playlist:
Kreator- Warcurse, Hordes of Chaos
Gary Higgins- Thicker than a Smokey, It didn't Take too Long, I Pick Notes from the Sky
Morte Macabre- Apoteosi del Mistero, Threats of Stark Reality, Opening Theme
David Hess- Last House on the Left Soundtrack (speaking of LHOTL, there's a remake coming out at the end of March, I'm excited!)
Ali Akbar Khan- Raga Madhuwanti
Om- Pilgrimage
Ozzy Osbourne- Blizzard of Ozz (I've been returning to some classic metal lately)
Dio- Holy Diver
Black Sabbath- Heaven and Hell
And some Bjork, Heron (not the bird, not the activist, but the folk band), Blut Aus Nord, and Slayer.
There's more but this is good enough for now, I'll list more another time.
